136. Building The Hivery Through Grief, Community & Starting Over with Grace Kraaijvanger
In this deeply honest and moving conversation, I sit down with Grace, founder of The Hivery , to talk about entrepreneurship, grief, reinvention, community, and what it really looks like to build something meaningful through life’s hardest seasons.
You’ve heard me mention The Hivery so many times on the podcast because becoming part of this community has genuinely changed my experience of entrepreneurship and womanhood. In this episode, Grace shares the incredible story behind building The Hivery: from her early career as a professional dancer, to navigating burnout and searching for deeper meaning, to creating one of the first women-centered coworking and community spaces in the Bay Area.
But this conversation goes far beyond business. Grace vulnerably opens up about losing her mother, supporting her younger sister through terminal cancer while simultaneously expanding her business, and later losing everything she had built during the pandemic when The Hivery was forced to close its doors.
We talk about what it means to hold grief while continuing to show up for your dreams, the courage it takes to start over, and why women so deeply need spaces where they can be fully seen, supported, and human.
This episode is for anyone navigating a transition, rebuilding after loss, questioning what success really means, or craving deeper community in a world that often asks us to do it all alone.
