125. Doing Health Softer: Healing Without the All-or-Nothing Rules with Whitney Shook

Season #4

What if healing didn’t have to feel so hard?

In today’s episode, I’m sitting down with Whitney, a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner who works with women living with autoimmune conditions (including Hashimoto’s), and who shares a message I deeply believe in: health doesn’t have to be rigid to be effective.

This conversation felt like a deep exhale.

We talk about what it means to do health softer, stepping away from all-or-nothing rules, fear-based protocols, and the constant pressure to “optimize,” and instead coming back to real food, nervous system support, intuition, and self-trust.

Whitney shares her own journey with Hashimoto’s, alopecia, grief, and perfectionism and how those experiences shaped the way she now supports women in healing. We also weave in my own story with burnout, thyroid health, trying to conceive and learning (the hard way) that you can’t force your body into wellness.

In this episode, we explore:

- What doing health softer actually looks like in real life
- Entrepreneurship as a mom of three
- Why rigid rules can create more stress (and slow healing)
- Letting go of health identities that no longer serve you
- Why learning to trust your body again changes everything
- How nervous system regulation plays a role in autoimmune health
- Actual thyroid labs to ask your doctor about
